Support whilst I’m in hospital

If you are in hospital for longer than a day, the person admitting you will sort out some nicotine replacement therapy (or N.R.T) as soon as possible, then within the next day, one of our Tobacco Dependency Treatment Team will come and visit you on the ward.

If you decide that you want to use this opportunity to quit smoking, your advisor will talk you through your options and set you up with your own tailored swap and stop plan.

This can include the use of nicotine products such as patches, mouth sprays and lozenges, or you may choose to use a vape.

With the right help, you can manage and avoid cravings, whilst learning about all the health benefits of stopping smoking and how this positively affects your body and mind.

If you do not wish to stop smoking at this time, then your advisor can support you with nicotine swaps which will make it much easier not to smoke in hospital.
